Open Campus Outline

Home Block Requirements:

Students will meet the following requirements to be cleared to travel the home block during lunch, including traveling to Domino’s.

• Can name the four streets that make up the home block and what side of the block they are on using cardinal directions
• Can travel the home block, in both directions, within 20 minutes

Skywalk Requirements:

Students will be able to locate the following locations and return to IDB with and without the instructor when given directions within 40 minutes. Each location will be traveled to separately.

• Palmer’s Deli
• La Mie
• Local Bites Food Court

Street Requirements:

Students must meet all the following criteria to be cleared to travel on the street level during lunch time.

• Demonstrate an understanding of the downtown address system
• Successfully locate three unknown businesses when given the address and present the instructor with a business card as proof of completion
• Successfully take the D Line independently to locate a given address and present the instructor with a business card as proof of completion
• Travel to and from Hy-Vee independently within 40 minutes

Note: Shades are required for students who wear them, and all open campus tests must take place during travel class.
