Moving data from your local hard drive to the H drive

Note: Always remember that data on your local hard drive IS NOT backed-up. Local storage should only be used when an internet connection is not possible. Always remember to copy any locally stored files to your H drive folder once you regain access.

How to make a folder on your hard drive

  1. Hit Windows Key+e to open Windows Explorer
  2. Highlight your C drive and press enter
  3. Hit Ctrl+Shift+n to create a new folder.
  4. Type a name for the folder. A good choice might be local or move. Then press enter.

How to move files from your hard drive folder to your H drive folder

  1. Hit Windows+e to open Windows Explorer
  2. Highlight the C drive and hit enter
  3. Highlight the local folder you created and saved your files in then hit enter
  4. Hit Ctrl+a to select all the files in the folder
  5. Hit Crtl+x to cut the selected files.
  6. Hit Windows+e to open another copy of Windows Explorer
  7. Highlight the H drive and hit enter.
  8. Highlight user and hit enter
  9. Highlight your folder and then hit enter.  You may have a certain place within this folder that you need to go to with this folder. If you do, highlight it and press enter.
  10. Hit ctrl+v to paste the files into your H drive folder. This will remove the originals from your local hard drive.
